Over the past several weeks, I have had several people tell me that I don't look like I have cancer. Well, what exactly does someone with cancer look like. Cancer is an enigma.
I thought I looked pretty normal until my diagnosis. And then I thought I looked pretty much the same after my diagnosis...
Sure, now that I am on chemo I look more tired - well because I am. I haven't lost much of my hair, but I assume that will happen at some point. I am more swollen because that is a side effect of the chemo. But really what does a cancer patient look like.
I see all types of people at the infusion center. If I met one on the street or in the store, I am not sure that my first assumption would be - oh I wonder if that person has cancer or not.
Cancer is not bald, it is not old looking, it is not old, it is not young, it is all of those things and can be none of those things and it can be so much more. Everyone with cancer looks and feels a bit different. Remember that a cancer patient-chemo patient might you saying this the wrong way. They are already emotional about the subject and the fight they have to go through.
